The Black Barn is simply breathtaking – from the beautiful historic barn building, that has been lovingly restored to combine modern class with rustic beauty, to the lush gardens and manicured lawns – this venue has it all. This is one you will want to add to your tour list, and I’m 100% sure you’ll be throwing down your deposit to secure a date at this magical place.

The Bridal Loft
Ugh… where do I start? This stunning loft features high ceilings, perfect lighting and thoughtful details. There is simply no better place to celebrate and prepare for your walk down the aisle than this space. Equipped with a cozy seating area, wet bar and generous vanities, The Black Barn overlooked no detail and spared no cost to ensure the perfect atmosphere and most photo worthy pre-celebration images. M + B also opted for a few intimate portraits in this space.
The Exterior Barn Pathway
The outside patio and walkway makes for unforgettable images – bridal portraits, party shots or family portraits, this space has it all. Lined with lush greenery and florals, this pathway is a must for a golden hour dip kiss. We chose this location for M+B's intimate vow exchange moments before the start of their public ceremony, as well as a few bridal party portraits.

The Barn Balcony
The best spot for your dress, your pre-first look and some beautiful intimate portraits.
The view looking down is just as pretty and we took full advantage of aerial photo ops from this sweet spot.
The Patio
Cocktail hour under fairy lights? Yes please. This sprawling space makes for the perfect summer night party pad. There is a covered portion of the patio perfect for mid day, intimate portraits providing a break from the heat and direct sunlight. Bonus: the covered patio doubles as a ceremony location and buffet station.
The barn exterior, manicured space and soft fairy lights create the perfect atmosphere for breath taking images. We took advantage of this space for cake cutting, bridal and family portraits.
The Lawn
This space is the best option for a beautiful outdoor ceremony in the peak of summer wedding season. Thoughtfully lined with rustic benches, your guests will experience your ceremony in comfort, surrounded by breathtaking Alberta scenery.
The Barn Interior
A bar that opens up to the patio, large patio doors behind the head table, a balcony viewing area and ample space for all of your guests is what you can expect from this space. Natural lighting from the gorgeous windows amplifies this indoor area for great photos!

The blooming canola fields, the tractor and flower truck, the side barn portrait area and the other external building equipped with a pool table and fully furnished sitting area are a few other photo perks of this wedding venue. I could literally include 1000 photos on this post and it wouldn't be enough.

As a full time Alberta Wedding Photographer, I can say I have traveled to some of the most beautiful wedding venues all over Alberta, and the Black Barn is honestly one of my absolute favorites. It tops the list due to the laid back yet elegant vibe that so many couples crave. In my view, this beautiful rustic estate venue is basically unmatched and is the only venue outside of my typical service area (Southern Alberta) that I will make an exception to travel to!
