Some couples walk into their engagement session feeling like old friends, and that's exactly how it felt meeting Yasmine and Ryan.
The two made the trip down from Calgary for their engagement session at Popson Park, where we spent a beautiful summer evening chasing golden light, rolling through the grass, and capturing the kind of authentic moments that make engagement photos feel like memories instead of poses.
From the moment we met, I knew these were my kind of people.
Before the session even started, Yasmine and Ryan surprised me with a sugar-free Red Bull after spotting my love for them on Instagram. It was such a thoughtful gesture and immediately broke the ice. Those little moments tell you so much about a couple, and it was clear right away that they are incredibly kind, intentional, and genuinely excited about this season of their lives.
As the sun dipped lower over Popson Park, we wandered through the tall grass and open fields, embracing the warm golden light that photographers dream about. Rather than focusing on stiff poses, we spent the evening practicing natural movement, playful prompts, and creating genuine moments together. By the end of the session, the camera nerves had completely disappeared.
One of my favorite parts of engagement sessions is helping couples feel comfortable in front of the camera before their wedding day. Yasmine and Ryan fully trusted the process, embracing every prompt and adventure along the way. The result was a gallery filled with authentic connection, romantic movement, and the cinematic, moody imagery they had been searching for when they began looking for their wedding photographer.

Their wedding plans include a late-night poutine bar, dramatic cake-cutting photos, a grand sparkler exit, and even a late-night Taco Bell run with friends. It's the kind of wedding day that prioritizes experiences, memories, and spending intentional time with the people they love most.

As if I wasn't already excited enough, Yasmine is also planning a bridal boudoir session with me before the wedding to create a surprise gift for Ryan.
