Sadie & Jacob's Playful Henderson Lake Engagement Session
Lethbridge Engagement Photographer
Some love stories begin with a swipe, a chance encounter, or a blind date. Sadie and Jacob's story began much earlier.
As high school sweethearts, they've spent more than a decade growing up together, navigating life's milestones side by side, and building a relationship rooted in friendship, trust, and unwavering support. After more than ten years together, they're now preparing to say "I do" at Crystal Ridge Golf Club in Okotoks this coming February.
Before their wedding day, the couple made the drive down from Calgary for their engagement session at Henderson Lake Park in Lethbridge, and I couldn't have been more excited to finally meet them in person.
When Sadie first reached out, she told me she had been specifically searching for a photographer whose editing style highlighted rich, deep greens and a moody, cinematic feel. With Crystal Ridge Golf Club surrounded by beautiful greenery and green being her favourite colour, she wanted wedding photographs that would embrace the natural landscape rather than wash it out.
As a photographer, there's no bigger compliment than having a couple choose you because your artistic vision aligns perfectly with theirs.
Henderson Lake Park was the perfect setting for their engagement session. The mature trees, winding pathways, and lush summer greenery created beautiful layers and texture throughout the session while giving us plenty of opportunities to create images that felt romantic and timeless.
More importantly, it gave Sadie and Jacob space to simply be themselves.
One of the things I noticed almost immediately was how naturally they interact with one another. After more than ten years together, there is a comfort between them that can't be manufactured. They laugh easily, share inside jokes without saying a word, and move through the world as true partners.
That's exactly what they wanted their engagement session to capture.
Rather than focusing on stiff poses or overly formal portraits, we spent the afternoon creating images that felt playful, authentic, and reflective of the friendship that sits at the heart of their relationship. Whether they were walking hand in hand through the park, sharing quiet moments beneath the trees, or laughing together between prompts, every interaction felt genuine.
The result was a gallery full of movement, connection, and emotion—images that tell the story of who they are together rather than simply documenting what they look like.
Outside of wedding planning, Sadie works as a funeral director and embalmer, while Jacob works as an electrician. Both have careers that require dedication, skill, and hard work, making it even more meaningful to spend an evening slowing down and celebrating this exciting season of life together.
After more than ten years together, it's clear that Sadie and Jacob have built something incredibly special. Their relationship is rooted in friendship, strengthened by years of shared experiences, and filled with the kind of love that only grows deeper with time.
I cannot wait to photograph their wedding at Crystal Ridge Golf Club this February and continue telling the next chapter of their story.
If their engagement session is any indication, their wedding day is going to be absolutely unforgettable.
