Kate & Josh's Summer Engagement Session at Popson Park | Lethbridge Engagement Photographer
There are few places that feel more like summer in Southern Alberta than Popson Park. Golden grass, winding trails, river views, and warm evening light make it one of my favourite locations for engagement sessions—and this past Saturday gave us absolutely perfect conditions.
With temperatures hovering around 30°C and not a single cloud in the sky, it was one of those classic July evenings that felt like it would last forever. The only downside? Weather like that is also perfect for rattlesnakes. Thankfully, despite keeping our eyes peeled throughout the evening, we didn't spot a single one, leaving us free to enjoy every minute of exploring the park together.
Kate and Josh arrived exactly as they described themselves—quiet, kind, and wonderfully easygoing.
These sessions aren't just about beautiful photos. They're an opportunity for us to slow down, get to know one another, and help you feel completely comfortable before your wedding day arrives.
Rather than rushing from pose to pose, we spent the evening wandering the trails, chatting about their wedding plans, and enjoying the beautiful Alberta summer evening. Those little moments in between are often where the most meaningful photographs happen. We practiced natural prompts, and candid style poses to learn what sort of images they most look forward to seeing in their final wedding gallery. Before we knew it we had been shooting together for almost 2 hours! Time seriously flies during both your engagement session and wedding day as you lean in and enjoy the process of creating memories that will look great over your fireplace.
I'm already counting down the days until next May when these two will officially tie the knot in Lethbridge. Their wedding day will begin at the beautiful Galt Museum before they celebrate with family and friends at the Italian Cultural Centre. It's going to be such a wonderful combination romance and carefree celebration, and after spending this evening with them, I'm even more excited to document it all.
Kate and Josh, thank you for trusting me with this season of your lives. It was such a pleasure getting to know you both, and I can't wait to celebrate alongside you next spring.
