Abe & Amelia's Engagement Session at The Helen Schuler Nature Centre in Lethbridge, alberta
When I met Abe and Amelia for their engagement session at the Helen Schuler Nature Centre in Lethbridge, it was immediately obvious that they had found something special. After just seven months together, they had already planned their dream wedding at Norland Historic Estate, set to take place only two months after our session. For some couples, that timeline might seem fast—but for Abe and Amelia, it felt like the perfectly short engagement season they were hoping for.
When you know, you know.
Their story became even sweeter when I learned that Abe had proposed just one week before our engagement session during a walk through the very same park where we took these photos. The trails, trees, and pathways that surrounded us held brand-new memories of one of the most important moments of their lives together. Amelia loves to go walking in Lethbridge, and they often drive out from their town of Taber to enjoy the many walking paths we have here.
My favourite detail of all? Amelia reached out to book me as their wedding photographer the very night they got engaged.
No pressure or anything! I was so honored to be her first email and absolutely love meeting couples who are just ask excited to meet me as I am to meet them!
Despite both describing themselves as shy and reserved, Abe and Amelia arrived ready to trust the process and embrace the experience. This was their very first professional couples session together, and like many couples, they were a little nervous at first. Within minutes, though, the nerves began to fade and the laughter started to take over.
Watching them interact was effortless. The way they looked at each other, the quiet smiles, the excitement when talking about their upcoming wedding, and the constant sense of comfort they shared made photographing them incredibly easy. They were willing to try anything I suggested, and by the end of the session they were completely relaxed and having so much fun.
What stood out most throughout the evening was the excitement they have for the future they are building together. They're not interested in waiting years to start the next chapter of their lives. They've fallen deeply in love and are eager to walk down the aisle, begin their marriage, and create a family together.
Their engagement session felt less like documenting a proposal and more like celebrating the beginning of an entirely new life together. As the sun dipped lower over the coulees and we wandered through the trails where their engagement story had just begun, I couldn't help but feel grateful to be a small part of such an exciting season in their lives. A reminder of why I love what I do and who I serve, in such a special season of life. Being a wedding and engagement photographer is literally the best job ever because connecting with couples who are wild about each other is just too sweet and makes my job so fun.
Abe and Amelia, thank you for trusting me with your very first couples session and for inviting me to document your wedding day so soon after your engagement. I already know your celebration at Norland Historic Estate is going to be filled with just as much joy, laughter, and love as this evening was.
I can't wait to photograph you two again in just a few short weeks!
xx Allie
