Kirsten & Lee's Engagement Session at the Galt Museum -Lethbridge Couples Photography
There are some engagement sessions where everything just clicks from the very beginning, and Kirsten and Lee's evening at the Galt Museum in Lethbridge was exactly that.
With a relaxed attitude, plenty of laughter, and a willingness to trust the process, they made every moment feel effortless. Their engagement session was the perfect opportunity to get comfortable in front of the camera before their wedding day while creating beautiful images in one of Lethbridge's most iconic locations.
I already know their wedding on July 31, 2027, at The Byre is going to be an incredible celebration, and after spending the evening together, I couldn't be more excited to photograph it.
Why the Galt Museum is Perfect for Engagement Photos
The Galt Museum is one of my favourite locations for engagement sessions in Lethbridge because it offers so much variety without ever needing to travel far.
Within a short walk, couples can enjoy manicured gardens, beautiful architecture, textured brick walls, sweeping coulee views, and peaceful walking paths. Every corner provides a completely different backdrop, making it easy to create a gallery that feels diverse and tells a complete story.
For couples who love timeless images with a mix of nature and architecture, it's hard to beat.
Natural Posing That Feels Like You
One of the biggest goals of every engagement session isn't just creating beautiful photos—it's helping couples feel completely comfortable before their wedding day.
Throughout the evening, Kirsten and Lee practiced many of the same natural prompts I'll use during their wedding. Rather than focusing on stiff poses or forcing awkward smiles, we spent our time walking, talking, laughing, and simply enjoying the evening together.
The result was a gallery filled with genuine connection and authentic moments.
By the time their wedding arrives next summer, they'll already know exactly what to expect in front of the camera, making portraits feel even more relaxed.
Exploring the Coulees Behind the Museum
After spending time around the museum grounds, we wandered into the beautiful coulees behind the Galt Museum.
Southern Alberta's coulee landscape is one of the things that makes Lethbridge so unique. The rolling hills, winding pathways, and open prairie views create a stunning backdrop that feels distinctly local while still offering a romantic, adventurous feel.
Kirsten and Lee embraced every moment, laughing their way through the trails and soaking in the beautiful summer evening.
These candid moments often become some of my favourites because they reflect exactly who a couple is together.
Creative Portraits Around the Gardens
The museum gardens gave us even more opportunities to create variety throughout the session.
We explored colourful greenery, winding pathways, and one of my favourite hidden features—a beautiful brick wall with open windows that creates unique framing and adds an editorial feel to portraits.
Using architecture as part of the composition allows every gallery to feel intentional and artistic while still keeping the focus on the couple.
Mixing natural landscapes with architectural elements helps create a collection of images that feels timeless and anything but repetitive.
Counting Down to The Byre
Kirsten and Lee will officially tie the knot on July 31, 2027, at The Byre, one of the most sought-after rustic chic wedding venues just outside of Lethbridge.
With its beautiful countryside setting, modern farmhouse charm, and incredible spaces for celebrating with family and friends, it's the perfect venue for a couple who loves a relaxed atmosphere without sacrificing elegance.
After seeing how naturally these two interact together during their engagement session, I already know their wedding gallery is going to be filled with genuine emotion, joyful moments, and plenty of laughter.
I can't wait to celebrate alongside them next summer.
